What does vaginal rejuvenation mean?

“Vaginal rejuvenation” is used for different procedures and is not a single diagnosis or treatment. The procedure described on this page is laser-assisted vaginoplasty, a surgical approach intended to address selected changes in vaginal structure.

It differs from nonsurgical vaginal laser sessions and pelvic floor treatments. The appropriate option depends on the examination and your concerns.

Why do women seek a consultation?

Women may report less contact during intercourse, a feeling of increased vaginal width, or more difficulty reaching orgasm, particularly after pregnancy. These concerns should be heard respectfully, even when there is no obvious medical disorder.

Sexual pleasure has many physical, emotional and relationship-related influences. Vaginal tightness alone does not determine sexual satisfaction, and a procedure cannot guarantee improved sensation or orgasm.

What does vaginoplasty involve?

The surgical technique described by Dr. García may remove excess vaginal tissue, reduce the vaginal opening or internal diameter, and reinforce the perineal body, the area between the vagina and anus. The extent of repair must be individualized.
